GRIEVANCE POLICY FOR TRAININGS
I am fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the
American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. As such, I am compliant with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants.
The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards is my responsibility as the Education Chair, in consultation with psychologists who have been designated as program planning advisors. While I go to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempt to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues that require intervention and/or action.
Below is a guideline for submitting a grievance:
1. If your grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, please submit your grievance in writing and I will pass your comments on to the speaker and maintain your confidentiality.
2. If your grievance concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, please submit your grievance in writing. I, as Education Chair, will mediate. If an action is warranted, one of the following will be taken:
a. Attempt to move you to another workshop.
b. Provide a credit for a subsequent workshop.
c. Provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee.
Please note, options 2b and 2c will require a written note documenting the grievance for record keeping purposes. In order to maintain confidentiality, you do not need to sign the note.
3. If your grievance concerns an educational program in a specific regard, please submit your grievance in writing. I, as Educational Chair, will attempt to arbitrate directly.
If your grievance in any of these situations presents a conflict of interest for me to arbitrate, the Administrative Advisor (Sean Sterling, Ph.D., ABPP) will mediate.
